In Y7 students study the Middle Ages, 1066 – 1450 and the Making of the UK, 1450 – 1750. In Y8 students study the Industrial Revolution, 1750 – 1900 and the early part of the Twentieth Century including the First World Was and the Rise of the Dictators. In Y9 students study the Twentieth Century focusing on the Second World War and Cold War.
Throughout KS3, students work to develop their skills in history including the analysis of source material, the consideration of interpretations in history and researching of historical topics. They also look at the ideas of cause and consequence and change and continuity.
History is a popular option at KS4. Students follow a Modern World History syllabus (WJEC) with a particular focus on The USA 1910 – 1929, Nazi Germany and the Conflict in the Middle East. Coursework is based on the Home Front in Britain during the Second World War.
