Information Computer Technology
ICT is studied by all students from Year 7 to 11. Students in Year 7 and 8 have one hour of ICT a week which increases to 2.5 in Year 9 and 2 hours in Year 10.
In Year 7 and 8 students develop their ICT skills using a range of applications. Students learn to how to manipulate data using databases and spreadsheets. They use drawing software to create graphics that are used to enhance presentations and websites. They learn how to control events and create clear and simple instructions. They also learn how to use the Internet safely to search for relevant information.
Students in Year 9 and 10 follow the OCR Nationals Level 2 syllabus which requires students to solve real life problems using a range of ICT applications. Students must complete three units to gain the equivalent of two GCSEs. The units are as follows:
- Unit 1: Using ICT in Business
- Unit 3: Digital imaging - Plan and produce computer graphics
- Unit 5: Desktop Publishing
