In addition to our aims as a centre of excellence, Heathcote School has aims specifically relating to our Science and Applied Learning Specialisms.

As a centre of excellence Heathcote School will:
- Raise standards of achievement for all our students.

- Develop and share expertise and resources with local schools and the wider community, to foster a spirit of academic partnership in Waltham Forest that is scientific, technological and vocational.
- Use the resources of business and the local community to raise educational standards of our young people and improve the ability of the community to support achievement.
- Raise the post sixteen participation rate and provide young people with the skills needed to progress into employment, further training or higher education according to their individual abilities, aptitudes and ambitions.
- Use the opportunity provided by the construction of a new school to create a learning environment that will promote excellence and serve as a benchmark for others.
Specific aims as a college of Science and Applied Learning
As a Science College we will:
- Raise standards of achievement for all our students leading to a whole school increase in achievement.
- Be active partners in the further development of a learning society through our work with our partner schools.
- Develop and share expertise and resources with local schools and the wider community to foster a spirit of academic partnership in Waltham Forest that is scientific, technological and vocational.
- Develop innovative approaches to teaching and learning that will provide models of excellence within the school and wider community.
- Use the resources of business and the local community to raise educational standards of our young people and improve the ability of the community to support achievement.
- Raise the post 16 participation rate in the specialist subject areas and provide young people with the skills needed to progress into employment, further training or higher education according to their individual abilities, aptitudes and ambitions.
- Use the opportunity provided by the construction of a new school to create a learning environment that will promote excellence in education and serve as a benchmark for others.
As an Applied Learning College we will:
- Enhance our existing Science status and build on established collaborative partnerships with local schools to enable learners to access a personalised curriculum.
- Use it to transport us on the journey from good to outstanding providing a hub for Diplomas and Apprenticeships for the North Area Partnership.
- Build into our KS4 provision, ensuring the offer can be tailored to individuals’ interests and future needs.
- Make further investment into ICT to enhance learning and teaching.
- Respond to pathways, new qualifications and initiatives as they emerge and impact on the local community
- Work with our partners, we aim to respond to the identified needs in the area by:
- Promoting collaboration between schools in the north of WF.
- Taking a leading role in ensuring that the partnership passes through the gateway for given lines of learning: Hair and Beauty, Business Administration and Finance, Environmental & Land Based Environment, Manufacturing and Product Design and Science specialist diplomas.
- Development of a new Post 16 Centre at Heathcote to compliment borough provision by making applied learning accessible to learners in WF, fitting in with the area’s strategic planning.
- Establish a Partnership with local schools enabling learners to access provision with our partners and extending provision at the proposed post 16 centre.
- Act as a catalyst to improve 14-19 education in the area, reduce NEETs and support WF’s 14-19 education and youth support plan.
- Enable students to leave with the skills, qualifications and attitudes to sustain employability as leaders of industry, community and (care professions) within the changing global economy.
