Heathcote School offers Sports Leaders and Dance Leaders Awards.
Through this qualification, students develop their leadership and teamwork skills. They learn organisation, planning, and communication skills through the medium of sport/dance and through teaching it to younger students. Students from Heathcote visit our partner primary schools to lead small groups in simple sport, dance and recreational activities, whilst under the direct supervision of their tutor.
The awards are a nationally recognised Level 1 qualification. In 2008_9 30 students in year 11 successfully achieved the Sports Leaders Award and 22 year 10 students. This year we are offering year 10 the chance to do Sports Leaders and year 11 have the opportunity to do either Sports Leaders or Dance Leaders. It is a fun and practical qualification with no entrance requirements or final examinations to sit.
