Suntrap Forest Education Centre
Heathcote School works closely with Suntrap, Education Centre for Waltham Forest. The centre provides opportunities for environmental education, and adventurous activities. These include orienteering, stream studies, pond dipping, team building games, shelter building, vertebrate and invertebrate studies, camping and maths and geology trails
Suntrap’s activities support the National Curriculum and the QCA Schemes of work. There are courses designed to support attainment targets in Key Stages 1,2,3 and 4 and in Science, Geography, Mathematics, History, English and ICT. Field studies for AS and A2 level Science and Geography are also available. All activities have been risk assessed.
Suntrap has 7 acres of field and garden together with 4 large classrooms, reference libraries and a variety of captive bred animals, both vertebrate and invertebrate.
