Train With Us
We are committed to providing initial teacher training for all departments at Heathcote School and Science College departments. Our staff are active members of various training networks to develop new and existing teachers. In addition, our dedicated and experienced colleagues mentor and coach trainee teachers to reach their full potential.
Training to become a teacher at Heathcote School and Science College enables new teachers to grow in a supportive environment where dedicated staff observe teaching and provide quality feedback relating to the teacher standards. In addition, we offer regular and consistent support from senior staff and professional coordinating mentors through weekly training sessions encompassing the vast and varied experiences as a teacher.

We are thrilled to collaborate with the North East London Teaching School Hub (NELTSH) and Seven Kings Teaching Alliance to establish several development hubs in and out of the borough. This partnership will allow the development of trainee teachers to access a range of CPD based on evidence-informed practices.
We strongly believe that increasing our staff's capabilities will lead to higher pupil attainment at Heathcote School and Science College.
We have developed bespoke programmes that provide continuous development for trainee teachers and staff to become outstanding practitioners. We have supported multiple pathways to continuously develop skills and become exceptional practitioners.
We provide established initial teacher training via PGCE and School Direct and have recruited trainees through School Direct and Teach First. Our mentoring and support, training sessions, and positive learning environment with well-behaved pupils enable our trainees to develop their skills quickly and confidently, leading to successful employment. In addition, we work closely with university providers such as UCL, King's College, and UEL to provide a range of training strategies.
