Heathcote Pupils in Online Exhibition of Lockdown Art

3

Some of our pupils have been creating some remarkable art projects at home during the COVID-19 lockdown. Teacher of Art Ms Armitt tells us more...

Students in all year groups have used their time at home in lockdown to really develop their creative skills.

A selection of the best of pupils Artwork produced since the end of March can be seen in the Waltham Forest Schools Lockdown Gallery 2020 on YouTube.

The exhibition, curated by Ms Chapman-Andrews of Willowfield School, features work from seven Waltham Forest secondary schools, including Heathcote, as well as work from Inky Cuttlefish Studio in Walthamstow. It celebrates the creativity of the pupils and records thoughts, feelings and reflections on the events that have taken place during this time.

It also represents the importance of creativity and art during this isolated time as students have engaged in arts subjects as a means of enjoyment, self-expression, solitary thought and reflection, calm, resilience and well-being.

For those students who have been in school during this time, art has provided a forum for discussion, enjoyment and collaboration.

Please see the following video on YouTube for more of the fantastic work created by our pupils!
