Heathcote School offers a broad and balanced curriculum, with clear progression routes for pupils of all abilities through Key Stages 3 to 5.
Under the Education Act 1993, parents have a right to withdraw their children from all or part of the Sex and Relationships Education (SRE) programme, except for those parts included in the statutory National Curriculum. Parents wishing to exercise this right are asked to make an appointment with the Headteacher, Ms Hillman, to discuss the issues. If this is not possible, parents are required to put this withdrawal in writing before it can be acted upon. Once a child has been withdrawn, they cannot take part without written parental permission. The school will make alternative arrangements for any such students. The SRE Policy is currently being updated in line with new (soon to be published) Department for Education guidance. Details of what is taught in each year group is available on the PSHCRE Curriculum page below.
